I’m not exactly feeling creative today so I’m just going to relate some crazy stories from Thailand. After everonye left for the airport in cambodia, I pretty much just bonded with one of the doormen and hung out for the next hour in the lobby hoping my ride would show up in time to get me to the bus station. Eventually this guy pulls up in a black sedan, and there’s a flurry of cambodian back and forth and I’m told this is my pickup. So I get in the car and it’s just me and a 30 year old Chinese woman from Shanghai and off we go. I was feeling pretty good about it until we pulled into the “bus station” which was basically a tour guide’s office where they rented out lots of mountain bikes. at this point I’m thinking “this is going to go downhill fast.” but they have pictures of nice double decker buses which look to be nice and air-conditioned, and an Israeli couple who live in Los Angeles sits down next to me and starts talking to me about how Siem Riep is like Tijuana. they’re really nice though, and since I’m at the bus station I can’t really complain. time’s up, more to come
